Dreams and visions
- Magical realist art presents us with a world that is imaginary. What we see is recognizable, but the context is foreign. It encourages us to think and teaches us to see in a new way. The six artists from the Netherlands and Denmark participating in this exhibition each have their own unique style. Together, they create a thrilling whole where nothing seems impossible.

Should I stay or should I go
2025The painting: Should I go or should I stay, depicts a surreal beach setting in which a blue Citroën 2CV surrounded by luggage and a living room arrangement with an armchair, table and lamp stand in the middle of the sand. This alienating combination of homeliness and holiday evokes a feeling of doubt. The title reinforces the theme of inner conflict, as if the scene freezes a moment in time when the choice between staying and leaving is still open.
The sea of time
2026A bright red classic armchair stands in the centre of a deserted sandy beach in front of a calm, blue sea. Everyday objects such as wine bottles, books, baguettes, a floor lamp and a side table are scattered around the chair in the sand. The surreal composition gives the impression that the living room has been moved outside, creating a tranquil, dreamlike atmosphere in which the boundary between indoors and nature becomes blurred.
Daydreams about new adventures
2025A blue Citroën 2CV, a beach hotel with a comic strip mural and a living room without walls combine to form a surreal beach setting. In Musings of new adventures, memory and imagination merge into a scene that feels both familiar and alienating. Everything seems to stand still, while the thought of a new adventure gently begins to come to life.
The scream of the seagull
2025This painting depicts a blue car, a 2cv, parked on a beach, with a person looking at the sea. The sky is filled with flying seagullsbirds, giving a sense of freedom and movement.

The time traveler
2024A surreal scene of a blue Citroën 2CV parked on a beach. In the background is a large, independent hotel. The whole radiates an atmosphere of truthfulness and unreality.

Lost
2023'Lost' is one of the few self-portraits I have made. But actually the term self-portrait does not cover it all. I better call it an autobiographical painting. It reflects a recent period when, unknowingly at first, I had a serious health problem. Fortunately, the problem has now been solved thanks to medical science, but at the same time there is also the harsh realization that things could have gone completely wrong. The painting is about the mental processing of this period of uncertainty and ignorance. It's so personal that I still have to decide whether to put it up for sale or not.
