'Lost' is one of the few self-portraits I have made. But actually the term self-portrait does not cover it all. I better call it an autobiographical painting. It reflects a recent period when, unknowingly at first, I had a serious health problem. Fortunately, the problem has now been solved thanks to medical science, but at the same time there is also the harsh realization that things could have gone completely wrong. The painting is about the mental processing of this period of uncertainty and ignorance. It's so personal that I still have to decide whether to put it up for sale or not.
